| The Hope Slide - Considered to be the most prominent landmark in the area, the Hope slide
was the result of an earthquake in 1965 which brought down enough material to cover the old highway
forcing it to be reconstucted around the slide. To access the slide drive 20 minutes east on Hwy 3 to
the top of Nine mile hill. The slide can be viewed from a pull-off of the north side of the road.
Hells Gate Air Tram - An aerial tramway transports people over a spectacular section of the Fraser River just south of Boston Bar (about a 40 minute drive north on Hwy 1 from Hope). The tram passes over a section of gorge that narrows to 35 meters. On the opposite side of the gorge are several small shops, a restuarant, and trading post. Docs Carving Gallery - The gallery offers unique crafts and giftware in a "one of a kind" collection created and maintained by a local Doctor. A copy of the local "A Daytripper's Paradise" will offer much more information about other local attractions. |
